The 10 Best Beach Umbrellas (Summer 2021)
Probably the 2 most important things to consider when deciding on a beach umbrella are:
- Diameter – Just how much will the umbrella cover, or how much shade will it provide? Definitely an important note here if you don’t want to be constantly adjusting the umbrella, but on the flip side if the umbrella is TOO big it could be heavy for you to carry etc. So think about how many people the beach umbrella will need to provide shade for.
- Style – Some of these umbrellas have some great features like screw in poles or tilting tops to provide shade at different points in the day. We only put high quality suggestions on here and we’ll make sure to point out the specific features and styles of each to help you make a decision.
Let’s get right to it.
Easy Go Beach Umbrella
We’re starting this list off right! If these aren’t the most cliché colors you’ve ever seen on a beach umbrella then you have us beat. That’s what makes it so fun! It stands out, and the quality of materials used here are great.
The umbrella itself is 8 feet in diameter, and the pole it sits on is mad of rust-free anodized aluminum so you don’t have to worry about that salt water spray corroding it.
In addition to being rust free it’s also height adjustable so is you want to lay low to the ground on your beach blanket, you can do that but also have the option to extend it to provide some head room or standing room.
The inside of the EasyGo Beach umbrella has a silver UV coating to keep your skin protected from harmful rays too.
Probably the coolest part of this umbrella is the screw in stake. So you’re not trying to cram the flat butt-end of a metal pole into your spot at the beach you can simply twist it deep into the ground so that the wind doesn’t blow your umbrella away – which it probably won’t anyways because the EasyGo ALSO has wind vents on the underneath side to prevent that.
It’s a one size fits all type screw anchor. It fits umbrella poles that are 2 inches in diameter, and comes with reinforced handles so you don’t even stand a chance of breaking it.
Sport-Brella XL
The Sport Brella is so versatile!
You can use this umbrella anywhere else too like an outdoor concert, or a sporting event.
What’s great here is you kind of have a beach canopy/beach tent/umbrella all in one.
Just depends on the way you use it! If you’re standing it straight up then the flaps will sort of hang down in the back of the beach umbrella, but you can stake them down with the 8 foot included tie down cords, and the 8 steel ground stakes.
If you want to see out the sides of the umbrella, or just let some of the breeze come right through you can easily unzip the side windows to do so.
You don’t want to be ‘those parents’ at your kids soccer games that are ignoring everyone.
The Sport-Brella XL is HUGE.
It’s 9 foot in diameter so you can be sure everyone will be protected from the sun.
Although it’s big it does collapse nicely into a portable carrying bag that weighs just 11 pounds.
And if you think the XL is too big for a beach umbrella here is their normal size Sport-Brella that is only 8 feet in diameter.
Tommy Bahama
We HAD to put a Tommy Bahama beach umbrella on this list. First of all they nailed it with the colors.
Much like the EasyGo beach umbrella up top Tommy Bahama’s has a built in screw stake as well so you don’t have to worry about digging out a base hole for your umbrella, and the wind won’t take it from you.
The diameter of this one is about 7 feet, and you can easily adjust the height of the pole, and tilt it to an angle so that you will be covered all areas of the day.
If the color of this one doesn’t make you think of the beach maybe their matching beach chairs will.
BeachBub All-In-One
The BeachBub beach umbrella probably has some of the strongest materials in this list.
If you’ve gone through other beach umbrellas and they have only snapped on you or not held up to the wind or other conditions look no further.
The beachbub is on the higher end on the pricing scale, but you also have to consider what the price will be if you buy a new beach umbrella and then it breaks and you have to replace it.
The cost of continually replacing something sometimes far outweighs reaching into your pocket a little more.
Sort of like rotomolded coolers, and their approach to have you NEVER buy a flimsy or crappy cooler again.
You don’t have to dig any holes for the beachbub beach umbrella, and that’s probably the coolest part.
They have a patent on their system so you won’t find another beach umbrella that has this easy to use feature.
Just watch how easy this is.
Not only is this a great beach umbrella but it also makes a great gift for elderly people who enjoy the beach too. They won’t have to worry about digging a hole or struggling to find shade.
And on top of their great sand base system it’s also 35 mph tested.
BeachBub also sells their sand base systems separately so if you already have a beach umbrella you can look at their base system by itself here.
If you’re looking for a beach umbrella that will last you many days in the sun this one is IT.
Impact Canopies Rainbow
Impact Canopies makes a great product here.
This beach umbrella is very similar to the EasyGo beach umbrella up top, but the only difference here is that Impact Canopies has a much beefier screw stake.
The colors are very similar to Easy Go as well, and the diameter is the same at 8 feet.
You can’t really go wrong with either one, and wanted to make sure we put it on this list as the quality of the product was worthy of making our list for the best beach umbrellas.
If you want to keep some of your extra items elevated off the sand like your glasses, or a towel, or even electronics items – Pole-R-Bear makes an umbrella hook that you can attach.
The best part is you can use this on virtually any beach pole measuring 3/4” all the way up to 1-5/8” diameter so you can put it on your existing beach umbrella.
Picnic Time Umbrella
Although this beach umbrella isn’t as big as some of the others in the list that isn’t always a bad thing. If you only need sunshade for 2-3 people Picnic Time’s beach umbrella will be a good fit for you.
Another important aspect to consider here is if you’ll need the umbrella for more than just the beach.
Although this one doesn’t have a screwing end on it, that can actually beneficial if you wanted to use this beach umbrella on your porch or somewhere else where the screw end wouldn’t fit.
It also has a pointed end so you can push it down into the sand much easier than a flat end beach umbrella.
The diameter measures about 5.5 feet, and the pole is 1-1/4” in diameter, and can easily stow away in the included slim carrying bag.
Trademark Innovations
Trademark Innovations is one of the least expensive ones in our list. We wouldn’t recommend this one if you are headed to a beach with strong winds, but we would recommend it if there will only be a light breeze.
When it comes to more inexpensive umbrellas like this one you’ll commonly see that they will have wear and tear around the tilting mechanism on the pole, but because this one is a single piece rod you definitely don’t have to worry about it snapping at all. The ribs on the underneath side are made of steel so the backwards umbrella look won’t be happening here either.
If you’re basing your decision more on what’s in your wallet then this is a good option, and if you wanted to spice up your beach umbrella with a little table to hold your drinks and phone you can grab one here.
Sport Brella Versa-Brella
The Versa Brella isn’t specifically intended for the beach.
It’s made for EVERYTHING. Versa being short for versatile that’s what makes this product so great.
It’s made for clamping to tubular or square poles so you can clip it to a foldable chair, your umbrella you currently have for a child, or even a stroller to provide extra sun protection for your kids.
Looks how VERSAtile it is.
As you can see it has many applications which is why it made our cut of beach umbrellas.
Ammsun Beach Umbrella
The Ammsun is another cost effective beach umbrella in our list much like Trademark Innovations up above. It’s roughly 7.9 feet in diameter and comes with a fun pattern.
It does have the ability to tilt different directions so you can keep adjusting it throughout the day.
At the bottom of the pole it’s spiked so you can push it into the ground, but Ammsun also recommends you grab an umbrella anchor.
You can use one of the ones we already suggested, or you can get this one here as it will fit more snug should you go with the Ammsun beach umbrella.
Ammsun Instant Pop Up Umbrella
Ammsun made our list again here as they had another style that was too eye catchy to pass up.
Normally you see round beach umbrellas, but this one had a more modern look and feel to it with their square style so we decided to include it.
It’s 5.5’ in diameter, but seems much larger when you attach the included Velcro strapped panels.
The flaps come with pockets so you can stow away cell phones, wallets, or any other valuables – but also detach completely if you just want to use the umbrella by itself which we found versatile.
